Cultural Partnerships

Over the last 12 years, Propel McKeesport scholars have been inspired by art, history and nature through a hands-on learning program through The Frick Pittsburgh. The partnership grew from our desire for our scholars to experience opportunities they would not usually be exposed to outside the classroom.

This year's theme is "Art As Voice," Propel Mckeesport's 6th-grade scholars will visit The Frick four times. Recently, scholars met Rwandan fashion designer Cedric Mizero, who won a special mention at this year's International Fashion Showcase in London. They explored social activism through the work of the late expressionist artist Romare Bearden. Scholars also designed their covers for journals they will use during future visits to The Frick.
